Celtic Cross has a roster of over 20 adult dancers but typically sends anywhere from four to 10 dancers to every performance depending on its length and size. We perform at concerts, festivals, dinners, fundraisers, weddings, pubs, and any other events that could be enlivened by our colourful and dynamic performances. A typical performance consists of a mix of traditional Highland, Irish, and Ottawa Valley Step dances and original, contemporary choreographies, but performances are fully customisable. An introduction to Celtic Cross

Celtic Cross is a group of Ottawa dancers who perform a mix of traditional and contemporary choreographies. We have decades of experience in Highland, Irish, and Ottawa Valley stepdance as teachers, performers, competitors, and choreographers. We’ve danced for Irish ambassadors and British high commissioners; we’ve shared the stage with the likes of Ashley MacIsaac, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, the Sons of Scotland, Ottawa Police, and Royal Canadian Mounted Police Pipe Bands, and with countless Celtic bands; we’ve appeared on CTV, City TV, and other networks; and we’ve performed and competed across Europe and North America.

Our shows are a lively blend of all three dance styles and are a mix of traditional solo and group dances as well as original choreographies. Our repertoire is suited to any venue or event from festivals to pubs to live concerts to wedding receptions and anything in between. We have a roster of over 20 adult dancers and can perform in almost any space and with any number of dancers.

The group is led by dancers, teachers, and choreographers Laurie MacEachern, Tara Hierlihy, and Caitlin Crockard. Laurie is an Associate Highland dance teacher with the British Association of Teachers of Dancing and a premier-level Highland dancer who also performs Irish and Ottawa Valley stepdance. Tara is an Irish dance teacher and former champion dancer who has been involved in the Irish dance community in Ottawa for nearly 25 years. She also now performs Highland dance. Caitlin has been involved with Irish dance choreography, teaching, and performance for 22 years and discovered the joy of both Highland and Ottawa Valley stepdance as an adult.
